WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? Senior Production Artist

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY. My daughter Susanne is 28, lives in Brooklyn, just married Jim Poe from Alabama on their 10th "anniversary." They met at college -- they both went early to college, she at 16, he at 15. She is a fiction writer, just finished her master's in creative writing, has been published (stories) and is working on a novel. Her day job is pre-school teacher at the Brick Church School in Manhattan. She just had a bout with cancer -- had a major operation just a few weeks ago at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital. It was so awful to go through that, but she is now cured, they say, so a HUGE sigh of relief, plus all my other "problems" are no big deal anymore! My stepdaughter Odessa is 31, is a social worker at Boston Hospital, is engaged. I have known her since she was 4 months old. She and Susanne are very close; Odessa stayed with her for a week after the operation to help. They are half-sisters. I am now on grandchildren-watch....

I was married for 28-1/2 years to Stan (Stash) but that ended suddenly last October. He had been weird for several months, physically sick. In hindsight, he was MAKING himself dsick, with guilt -- he met someone else in June, snuck around for 4 months (we never had that kind of marriage though). He left me a note, which I came home to late one weeknight after working overtime, and I haven't seen him since. What a coward! We are in the process of divorcing, which he is making most difficult by pursuing more than his share in a 50/50 state. I am so much better off without him, turns out! But it hasn't been an easy 8 months.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN THE YEARS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL?  First I went to art school, never graduated. Married Jeff Pinkus, that lasted 2-1/2 years. We lived on Cape Cod. We are still very good friends! He now lives on Marathon Key in Florida. Then I met and moved in with Stash, we had our daughter, lived on Cape Cod, after a short stint in North Carolina and Tennessee. I worked at a natural foods store, he had a gardening business. I started and ran "Susan's Kitchen" at the store -- a take-out lunch counter that was incredibly popular. I taught cooking classes, wrote and illustrated cookbooklets with my recipes. We bought a house and decided to get married. Then I quit the store job to start a sign-painting and art business, also got back into painting and exhibited, taught painting classes. My signs were everywhere on te lower Cape. I never made a lot of money at any of that, got into the computer and taught myself graphic design. Since then, I have worked at progressively more prestigious ad agencies as a production artist-- my day job. My passion is painting though, and I have painted nearly 600 paintings in the past 15 or so years. Look at my website: www.susangrabowski.com. I am way under the radar with it though, no longer in any galleries, although I do enter competitions a couple times a year and sometimes participate in Open Studios. I am just now starting to paint again after the huge funk I was in when he left in October. I have a laot of patrons and fans; my work is popular if I market it. My full-time job does not leave a lot of time. It is very expensive to live in Marin County, especially as a single person.

My new pursuit is the guitar -- I bought a new Martin acoustic and am studying music. I love folk and americana, lately Townes Van Zandt and Lucinda Williams. I like to sing, but have to get my guitar humming a little better before I can put the two together!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES? Advanced Placement English, a sit-in for girls to be allowed to wear pants to school, the Folk Arts Society, Miss Kiyak's verve for the Beat poets, Mr. Gubernat's art class ...

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS? That is an open book right now, and I am just learning to read....

WILL YOU ATTEND THE 35TH REUNION? Definitely
